What must I do to volunteer? You must be at least 18 years of age. Fill out an application. Attend an interview with our Chairman of Volunteers. Receive a health screening for tuberculosis provided free by Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Attend 9 hours of training with the Staffing Chairman of your chosen service. Recive a photo ID badge. Purchase your uniform. Work at least 35 hours a year to remain an active volunteer. Our volunteers work Monday through Friday. Most services consist of 4 hour shifts between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
